The War Between Mexico And The United States Essay

Following eleven years of struggle, Mexico finally achieved its independence from Spain in September of 1827. Yet over the next 40 years, Mexico would see nearly half of its lands lost from circumstances both in its control and those that were not. Fundamental in the structuring of the events that occurred were the altercations between Mexico and the U.S., chiefly speaking the cessation of Texas from Mexico, the war between Mexico and the United States, and the Gadsden Purchase. These proceedings crippled an already weakened nation, and set in motion a tortuous path for the nation that still exists to this very day. The internal and external strife from these three events left Mexico s ties with the United States diminished, a long lasting alienation of Mexican-Americans within the U.S. boundaries, its people torn asunder by the continuance of combat, both abroad and on its native soil. Mexico had many difficulties in beginning its life as a new nation, much the same as the United States did when it achieved independence from England. Freed from the bondage of colonized society, Mexico was eager to commerce in the capitalistic idealisms as seen in American societies. As such, Mexico invited American citizens into its new republic in order to learn how to industrialize, infuse American spirit into its domain, and open channels of commerce with its north American brethren. Had the venture succeeded, this would have brought to Mexico the infrastructure it required to maintainShow MoreRelatedWar Between Mexico And The United States1055 Words   |  5 PagesJustified in Going to War with Mexico? Theme Of Self Image In 12 Angry Men - 892 Words

Title Every single person on this earth is unique unto theirself. Think about it! Each individual has their own personality, agenda and history. Such are the characters portrayed in 12 Angry Men. The movie 12 Angry Men was the first of fourty-three films in the career of director Sidney Lument, who often sought controversial issues (RE). This movie focuses on a jury’s deliberation in a capital murder case, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. As the deliberations unfold the story quickly becomes a study of the juror’s complex personalities (imdb). Using rationalization, people can justify any action or inaction in an attempt to bring it into accord with their self-image (Roth 199). 12 Angry Men forces the characters†¦show more content†¦Unlike the positive self-image that Mr. Davis displays, the majority of the jurors and audience continually question themselves as the deliberation progresses. Lument wants his audience to feel uncomfortable so he 1) makes the day hot 2) the jury room even hotter 3) The fan in the room not working. He accredits the â€Å" lens plot† that was utilized in the juror room scenes to make the room seem smaller as the story continues (RE). This technique adds to the intensity of the situation, causing the sp0ectators to feelo claustrophobic and increasingly agitated. Then their self-examinations begin. Do they see themselves on teams, inquiring, whose side are you on anyway? Do they just want to be done, no matter the consequences, so they can go home or to a ball game? Do they want to be the executioner because of the anger they feel for another young man? Do they want the others to follow them unquestionably because they are important? Or perhaps, they want to piece together the evidence so they can account for what actually happened when the murder was committed. This movie moves the audience to feel obligated to ask themselves, as the jurors asked each other, just what kind of man are you? Juror #10 (Ed Begley Sr.) is a grouchy old cootie! He has a deceptive view of his self-image. He thinks of himself as being superior to the other jurors. Leadership in Business Communication Model

Question: Discuss about the Leadership in Business for Communication Model in Business. Answer: Describing the actual exploration activity in a brief summary and revealing the stretch this was from the usual comfort zone: The activity exploration of the diversity has been experienced through the participation in the Iftar in regards to the festival Eid-al-Fitr. Different people came from the varied ethnic background, which had generated a vast knowledge regarding the commonality and the diversity of the various ethical communities. At the same time, religious knowledge regarding the Muslims has been improved after attending the event. The game started with the speaking regarding the struggles; the Muslims had undergone in the past life. It has improved the self-perception regarding the particular community. Supporting to this fact, it has been identified that participation in the active cultural events increases the ethnic knowledge and the communication skill of the participants[1]. Additionally, it has been identified that the active involvement in different religious activity builds the act of sharing a meal together and creates mutual respect between people of different cultures[2]. A similar experience has also been incurred from the Saints Ramadan Iftar Dinner, which was conducted on 24th June 2016. The Iftar dinner at Northern Saints Football Club also created an opportunity to understand the shared values and the similarities among different regions. Considering the fact, it has been identified that the darkness of the knowledge of people regarding the minority religion could also be identified by attending culturally diversified events[3]. Thus, the overall exploration activity has been found competent enough to build a clear description related to the meaning of Allah or God and the similarity in their religious approaches. The stretch regarding the declaration of faith from the different ethnic background can be revealed from the current study. The statement of faith, charity degree, prayer, dress code, etc. have been found diversified than the normal activities[4]. The fasting is also strictly maintained during the Ramadan month, which is called as Eid. This scenario depicts a stretch from the day-to-day operations and at the same time, it builds the degree of respect the communities show for the religion. However, past researche states that so some extent religion unnecessarily stresses young people, and they become sick as well[5]. The similar fact has been experienced by analysing the study Lunch with Amna Karra-Hassan, AFL pioneer in Western Sydney. The people attended the event was unknown to my immediate friends, due to which, I became a little bit reclusive. Analysing its significance and the relativity of ahas on the appreciation of some aspects of diversity: The most significant part of the current activity is strengthening the knowledge regarding the family intertwined with the practice set of the different religious practices. It has been identified that attendance at the Iftar event is mandatory among the Muslims, and it is the symbol of happiness and unity. Also, the regular religious belief and practice employed in the Eid festival have improved the knowledge regarding the honesty and the respect the Muslim community pays for the Allah[6]. The gathering of different community and the communication strategies have also developed the understanding relating to the need for the diverse aspects of different religions. In the words of the scholars, the pillars of different religions are similar and builds the universal truth of the various supreme powers. The most significant lesson, acquired from the current event is the understanding of the similarity between different religion. The gathering of different communities has improved the acceptance regarding the religious dresses adopted by the Muslims like Taqiyah or Topi. Along with this, the white Dishdasha, the fasting activity and final gathering in the evening generated the value of giving respect back to the society[7]. Another thing which I loved most is the Karajarri language, as it predicts the courage and passion towards the Muslim culture. The gentleness and calmness of the community had also caught my eyes regarding the true nature and the optimum trusts for the perfect destinations. The concept of fasting promotes the faithful follower of the Islam closer to Allah to remind the community regarding the people that are less fortunate than the others[8]. Thus, the respect, commitment and dedication to the religion have been found justified with the relativity of aha on the ap preciation of the cultural diversity. Significance of Diversity and Leadership: The Iftar is the evening meal that consumed by the Muslims after ending the daily Ramadan fast at sunset. According to the opinion of the researchers, Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar that marks a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self accountability for the Muslim community in Australia[9]. The Iftar dinner party in Australia is a wonderful example of simple sharing a meal together so that the Australian Muslim Community could build mutual respect with the own community and the other cultural community. It has been noted that the dinner party is also a fruitful example to understand the other culture and faiths of the different community. For an instance, The Saints Football Club in Australia organized the Iftar dinner to celebrate the Ramdan festival by inviting more than 150 people in the ceremony[10]. On the other hand, Ramadan in Lebanon is different due to the multi-sectarian social fabric of the country. It has been observed that the people from L ebanon organized the dinner party from the second day of the fasting ceremony in Ramadan. After the sunset the people from the region organised the fast breaking ceremony by unified in ones house. In the opinion of the researchers, the mixed societal culture makes a big difference in Lebanon[11]. As Ramadan is the matter of ethics no one in the Lebanon could eat, drink or smoke in the street. The annual Iftan dinner is held at the presidential palace where all the leaders and the religious figures can participate. In terms of leadership, I perceived that an opening speech was given by the Indigenous Leader in the Iftaar party celebrated in the AFL Subiaco grounds of Western Australia. The speech was about the struggle of Indigenous community that the people had faced at the time of the revolution. The traditional Indigenous song was sung in Karajarri language that fades the light of Australian culture. In the opinion of scholars, Muslims donated the charities during the month and feed the hungry people to live the value of giving back to society[12]. This is one of the leadership attitude of the Muslim Community. The experience that influences the leadership journey: The Islamic Festival of Eid-al-Fitr has helped to understand the diversified religious culture of the Muslim Community. The Exploration of diversity exercise has helped to realise the celebration of the Iftar party in the Western Austalia by the Lebanese. The extent of diversity was not limited to the ethnicity as there were the presence of male and female AFL (Footy) players[13].This was a wonderful experience that could unify the African and Australian people in one place with the Labanese. The dressing style of the Muslim ladies was extraordinary while wearing wearing scarf and covering their face. The men wore the traditional Lebanese or Iranian dress. It has also been noted that the cultural belief of Muslim directs that the growing trend of the Muslim fanaticism is enjoyed by all the communities in the Ramadan festivities[14]. I perceived that the fast taking ceremony is proposed to bring the faithful follower of Islam closer to the Allah or God. I also experienced that Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith that helps the Muslim community to continue the journey towards the further development of the community. The Federal Reserve System Essay Example For Students

The Federal Reserve System Essay What the world needs now is Money Sweet Money; that is not the way the song goes however that is surely the way our world and economy does. Money and its importance relative to the US Government have always been difficult to figure out especially when it comes to interest rates. Due to our Federal Reserve System, its chairman Alan Greenspan, and his Board of Governors dedicated to seeing that our economy blossoms; those doubts have become a thing of the past, for now. The Federal Reserve System is a central banking of the US Government, most commonly known as the FED. A central bank serves as the banker to both the banking community and the government. It issues the national currency, conducts monetary policy, and plays a major role in the supervision and regulation of banks and bank holding companies. Congress created the FED in 1913. It was designed to ensure political independence and sensitivity to the many different economic concerns. The chairman and the six other members of the Board of Governors who oversea the FED are nominated by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. We will write a custom essay on The Federal Reserve System specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now There are twelve District Reserve Banks, subsequently located in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, in Richmond, VA. In Atlanta, GA., Cleveland, OH. St. Louis and Kansas City, MO., Chicago, Minneapolis MI.,Dallas, TX. And San Francisco. Each bank is responsible to a 9 member Board of Directors, which is set in a three-class system. The three classes are defined as A, B, and member banks elect C. Class A and the Board of Governors appoints B Directors and Class C. The Board of Directors is responsible for the administration of its banks and the appointment of the banks president and vice-president. This process is set from the base of the FED structure. Within the FED system there are member commercial banks. All national banks must join this system. They must purchase capital stock in their District Reserve Bank, entitling them to a six percent stock dividend, thus issuing them the right to vote for six of the nine Directors of that District Bank. Within this structure there was the Mon etary Control Act of 1980 which imposed a reserve requirement on all depository institutions, which allows them to borrow and receive other services from the FED. This remains beneficial because by enabling banks to borrow reserves from the Reserve Banks the liquidity of the entire banking system is increased. With that said the basic function of the FED relates primarily to the maintenance of monetary and credit conditions favorable to sound business activity in all fields; agricultural, industrial and commercial. Among this some duties include the following: lending to member banks, open market operations, establishing discount rates, fixing reserve requirements and issuing regulations concerning these and other functions. Each Federal Reserve Bank is best described as a Bankers Bank. In a nutshell, member banks use their reserve accounts with their reserve banks similar to the way we use our own checking account. They may deposit in the reserve accounts the checks on other banks and surplus currency received from their customers, and they may withdrawal on the reserve. Thus a bank with excess in the reserve requirements can enlarge its extension of credit (loans). However, lets not forget that the FED has the power to increase or decrease the supply of excess funds thus giving them majo r control over the amount of credit banks can extend. With this the FED basically has a powerful influence on the nations economic life i.e.. Inflation or deflation. With inflation/deflation being an issue the FED has always been best known to the public for the influence it has on the interest rates by fluctuating the access of the Money Supply. This term means the amount of money available at any one time in the US Financial System. The most frequently used instrument in controlling the Money Supply is the FEDS open market operations. When the Federal Open Market Committee (FMOC) decides that the money supply is growing too slowly the FED can purchase government securities thus injecting cash into the financial system and expanding the monetary base. Enabling banks to create additional deposits; a major portion of the money supply. Unfortunately if the money supply grows more rapidly than desired FMOC sells securities on the open market. This reduces bank reserve and the ability of banks to create deposits. Generally the less money there is the higher is its cost causing the Rate of Interest. .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .postImageUrl , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:hover , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:visited , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:active { border:0!important; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:active , .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf4212e2928c4fe03309dd762ff654e5f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Once A Warrior King - Review EssayAs with all other company structures there is some type of chain of command. Our governmental banking system is no different. The Reserve Banks implement the decisions made by the FEDS Board of Governors and their own officers. Their staffs examine state member banks, decide on granting loans to members, and carry out routine banking functions for the Federal Government. Branching, Merching, and Holding Company decisions are handles by Reserve bank officers. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which incidentally handles international financial accounts, conducts sales and purchases of securities for the Federal Reserve Systems own accoun t. With all that said at the top of the Federal Reserve System is a six member Board of Governors and the overseer of the entire system is its chairman Mr. Alan Greenspan. In June 2000, 73 year old Greenspan began his fourth term as the Federal Reserve Board Chief. He is namely responsible and has been praised for steering the US Economy towards the longest piece time expansion in history. Unemployment is at a 30yr low while consumer confidence is at a 30yr high and inflation remains in check during this time of economic progress. Greenspan has been at the helm of the worlds most influential bank since 1987; the year of the Black Monday market crash, and with his reappointment is set to remain there until June 2005. This makes his reign as chairman 2nd longest in history. In conclusion, the job of Mr. Greenspan and the Federal Reserve is not an easy one. Whenever money is involved there is always great potential for problems. With the Monetary Policy always an issue, Mr. Greenspan has to constantly come up with ways to keep our economy steady despite changes nationally and internationally. This recently became a relevant factor. At the very moment Mr. Greenspan was expected to accept his ultimate reappointment as Chair of the FED he was in the process of making it painfully clear that he was not going to allow the rapidly growing economy to foster inflationary imbalances that would undermine the economys record economic expansion. This and other important factors caused several short-term interest rate increases. (See graph below)This saga continues but the FED with all they have to do has steadily maintained an economy to be proud of for now.
